Pharmaceuticals are natural or artificial substances. Their presence in the environment is an
important issue, because multiple studies have shown that pharmaceuticals are present in water
bodies used for production of drinking water and in some cases even in tap water.
It is important to examine the ways how they get into the environment and the risk of short term or
long term exposition to them.
