An attempt has been made to survey the existing fish fauna of eastern Terai of Nepal. The survey
was conducted in winter and summer seasons in rivers, ponds, irrigated paddy fields, flooded areas
and other wetlands. Altogether one hundred four species belonging to twenty-five families under ten
orders were recorded. The population of several fish species recorded was found in declining state.
Anthropogenic activities and climate change were found accountable for the gradual decline of fish
	population in the surveyed area.
Key words: Terai, Eastern Nepal, Water resources, Fish fauna, Taxonomy.
